The Program at Brackenhollow
We teach an exciting and safe style of horsemanship based on riding with a balanced position and treating horses with respect.
We care deeply about fostering the relationship between humans and horses as an art form, a deep sense of connection that encourages self discovery for the human while fostering an atmosphere of comfort and serenity for the horse.
This sense of connection is key to developing horsemanship skills. Students gain confidence, learn leadership, and develop assertiveness, and forge some of their closest friendships with fellow riders. Many of the older or more advanced riders spend considerable time at the barn, experiencing the rhythms of horse care and all the little details of what happens "behind the scenes."
Students at Brackenhollow grow into well-rounded horse-people with a strong technical foundation emphasizing Dressage, Eventing, and Pony Club. There are 14 wonderful school horses, ranging from gentle beginner’s horses to those who can compete at high levels.
While some students do own their own horses, Brackenhollow is unique in that students are able to ride for decades without needing to incur the high expenses of owning a horse. Some of the Brackenhollow horses have been ridden at Pony Club "A" ratings, and have competed in upper levels of eventing.
Overall, the atmosphere at Brackenhollow is relaxed, safe, encouraging and fun, and many students grow to see the barn community as part of their own family.
